Over the last couple of weeks, we have observed several people on their cellular devices in school zones and the parent pick up lines. This is a violation of Tennessee State law, and School Resource officers have issued a few warning citations. We have been informed that School Resource Officers will begin issuing actual citations in the near future. For the safety of our students, staff, and everyone in these areas, please do not use your cellular device in school zones or parent pick up lines. We appreciate your cooperation.

We are excited to announce that telehealth services are now available at our Holladay and Big Sandy schools! This new service allows us to provide medical care to students who cannot visit the clinic in person. Using Tytocare devices, our providers can remotely listen to a student's heart and lungs, just like in an in-person visit with a stethoscope. Additionally, our providers can assess skin issues and look in ears and throats if needed. Our school nurses also have Strep and COVID/Flu tests available during these clinic visits. This technology allows our providers to deliver high-quality medical care to our students conveniently and safely. With telehealth, students with transportation issues or feeling too sick to come into the clinic can still receive the care they need. To schedule a telehealth or any other appointment, call the clinic during our hours of operation, from 7 AM to 3:30 PM, at (731) 325-5231. Our team can answer any questions about this new service and the other services available through our clinic. We look forward to continuing to provide top-notch medical care to our students and their families.

The Benton County School System is proud to announce an exciting new initiative that will benefit all students in Benton County. Starting in January 2024, every student in our school system will receive free meals for the remainder of the 2023-2024 academic year. We believe this program will be a huge success, and we are committed to ensuring that all students have access to healthy and nutritious meals throughout the day. We recognize that many families in our community struggle to make ends meet, and we hope this program will ease some of the financial burdens they face. To make this program a success, we need the support of everyone in the Benton County community. We encourage parents and guardians to talk to their children about the importance of healthy eating and take advantage of the free meals available to them. Regrettably, this program will not take care of any existing lunch debt. In addition to direct payments to the school, please consider using the School Cafe app to help settle any outstanding debt and to manage additional funds to cover extras that will be available for students to purchase once those debts have been settled. We are confident that this initiative will positively impact our students, our schools, and our community as a whole. Thank you for being so supportive, and we look forward to working together to make sure that every student in Benton County has access to the nutrition they need to succeed.
